Hylon AI Settings
Control how Hylon runs on your device. Manage your privacy level, your offline knowledge base, and the data Hylon stores, all from one screen built around on-device, private-by-default AI.
Accessing AI Settings
Hylon's settings are focused on privacy and offline behavior rather than tone or personality. The on-device model is purpose-built for OrbVPN support, so there is nothing to script, but you have full control over your data.
Open Hylon AI
Open the OrbVPN app and go to the Hylon AI assistant from the support area.
Open OrbAI Settings
Open the OrbAI settings screen to see the assistant's status and all of its privacy and data controls.
Review the Status Card
At the top you will see whether the on-device model is loaded or running in fallback mode, and whether you are currently online or offline.
Adjust to Your Preference
Set your feedback privacy level, toggle anonymous analytics, sync or clear your offline knowledge base, and manage stored data.
Status at a Glance
The status card shows two things: the Model state (Loaded means the on-device neural model is active; Fallback means Hylon is using its built-in rule-based responses) and the Network state (Online or Offline). Hylon works in every combination, including fully offline.
Privacy Settings
Hylon's privacy controls decide how, and whether, your feedback contributes to improving the assistant.
Anonymous Analytics
A single toggle to help improve Hylon with anonymous usage data. Turn it off at any time and no usage analytics are collected.
Feedback Privacy Level
Choose how your answer ratings are handled before they ever leave your device: Anonymous, Pseudonymous, or Attributed.
Feedback Privacy Levels
When you rate Hylon's answers, you decide how much, if anything, is associated with you.
Anonymous
The default. All identifying details are removed and privacy-preserving noise is added, so feedback cannot be linked back to you. Recommended for most users.
Pseudonymous
Only a one-way hashed identifier is kept. There is no readable link to your account, but related feedback can be grouped together.
Attributed
Opt-in only. Feedback is linked to your account, which can help support follow up on a specific issue you raised.
Recommended
Leave the feedback privacy level on Anonymous. You still help Hylon improve, but your ratings are stripped of identifying information and protected before anything is shared.
Offline Knowledge Base
Hylon keeps a copy of OrbVPN's help articles on your device so it can answer questions and you can read guides even with no connection.
Works Without Internet
The local knowledge base lets Hylon find relevant help articles and answer common questions offline, which matters most on restricted or unreliable networks.
Manual Sync
Tap the sync button to refresh the knowledge base on demand. A progress indicator shows the download, and the screen records when it last synced.
The knowledge base section shows live statistics about what is stored on your device.
Articles
The number of help articles currently stored offline on your device.
Categories
How many help categories are available offline for browsing and search.
Size
The total storage used by your offline knowledge base, so you always know its footprint.
Kept Fresh Automatically
Hylon refreshes the knowledge base in the background when it becomes stale, and you can always force an immediate sync from this screen. The last sync time is shown so you know how current your offline copy is.
AI Statistics
For full transparency, the settings screen shows exactly what Hylon is holding on your device before anything is aggregated or shared.
Pending Feedback
How many answer ratings are stored locally and not yet aggregated. These are processed on your device.
Local Events
The count of local usage events waiting on your device, only relevant if you have enabled anonymous analytics.
Sessions Tracked
How many sessions have been counted locally, giving you a clear view of what exists on-device.
Nothing Hidden
These counters exist so you can see your own data. Feedback and analytics are aggregated on your device first; only combined statistics are ever shared, and only if you allow it.
Data Management
You are always in control of what Hylon keeps. Two clear actions let you wipe stored data whenever you want.
Clear Offline Cache
Removes the downloaded help articles and offline knowledge base from your device. Hylon will re-download what it needs the next time you sync.
Clear All AI Data
Removes your locally stored feedback and analytics data. This is permanent and gives you a clean slate.
Open OrbAI Settings
Go to the OrbAI settings screen and scroll to the Data Management section.
Choose an Action
Select Clear Offline Cache to free space and remove downloaded articles, or Clear All AI Data to remove stored feedback and analytics.
Confirm
Confirm the dialog. The data is removed immediately and you will see a confirmation.
Permanent Actions
Clearing data cannot be undone. Clearing the offline cache means Hylon needs a connection to sync again before it can answer fully offline. Clearing all AI data erases any feedback you stored locally.
A Note on Chat Storage
Where your conversations live depends on which tier of Hylon answered them.
On-Device Answers
Questions handled by the local model are processed on your device and are not sent to OrbVPN to generate the reply.
Cloud and Human Escalations
When a question is escalated to the cloud engine or a human agent, that conversation is sent to and stored on OrbVPN's backend so we can answer you and keep continuity, in line with our privacy policy.
Honest by Default
We do not claim that every conversation stays only on your device. Instant on-device answers do; cloud and human escalations are processed and stored on OrbVPN servers to deliver the help you requested.
On-Device Security Models
Beyond the support assistant, OrbVPN runs additional on-device AI models that power its security suite, separate from Hylon chat.
Threat Detection on Device
TensorFlow Lite models flag scam messages, malicious URLs, and risky apps. They run entirely on your device, so the content being scanned never leaves it.
Private Scanning
No scan results, message text, or app lists are sent to OrbVPN servers. Your security data stays on your device.
