Community Guidelines

The Community Q&A inside the OrbVPN app is where members help each other with connections, privacy and the apps. These guidelines explain what is expected there, how to report or block someone, and what happens when a rule is broken.

Version 1 · Last updated November 4, 2026

What the Community Q&A is for

The Community Q&A is a peer-support space where OrbVPN members ask questions and share answers about connection problems, protocols, regional tips, streaming and gaming, billing and feature ideas. It is visible to everyone signed in to the app, so write as you would in any public place. A good answer can be accepted by the person who asked and earns recognition on the leaderboard. It does not replace support: for anything about your account or a payment, contact us directly.

Who can post

Anyone with an OrbVPN account can read the Community Q&A. To ask a question or post an answer, you must first accept the current version of these guidelines in the app. Posts appear under a username that does not reveal your email address, and you are responsible for everything posted from your account.

The rules

Seven rules apply to every question and answer. Moderators use them when they review a report.

  1. Be respectful

Treat other members the way you would want to be treated. Disagree with ideas, not with people, and assume the person asking is doing their best. Sarcasm and put-downs make others afraid to ask, and that hurts everyone.

  2. No harassment, hate or threats

Do not insult, bully or intimidate anyone. Content that attacks people for their ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or a similar characteristic is removed, and so is any threat of violence. This applies whether the target is a member, a public figure or a group.

  3. No illegal content or instructions

Do not post content that is illegal where you or OrbVPN operate, and do not explain how to commit a crime. This includes malware, stolen account details, instructions for attacking other networks and material that infringes someone's copyright. Explaining how to get online safely in a censored country is welcome; helping someone break into a system is not.

  4. No personal data of others

Never post another person's name, address, phone number, email, IP address, account details, photos or private messages without their clear permission. This includes screenshots that happen to contain such information. If you need to share a log or a screenshot to get help, remove anything that identifies a person first.

  5. No spam or self-promotion

Do not post advertising, affiliate links, referral codes, repeated content or anything whose main purpose is to promote a product, service or channel, including other VPNs. Posts with many links are rejected automatically. Recommending a tool because it genuinely answers the question is fine; posting the same recommendation everywhere is not.

  6. Stay on topic

The Community Q&A is about OrbVPN, online privacy and staying connected. Questions about the apps, protocols, servers, blocking in your region, streaming, gaming, billing and feature ideas all belong here. Politics, religion and unrelated subjects do not, even when they feel important, because they crowd out the people who came for help.

  7. Do not try to identify other users

Many members use OrbVPN because revealing who they are could put them in danger. Do not ask where someone lives, try to work out who they are from what they write, link a username to a real person, or encourage anyone to share identifying details. Content that attempts this is removed at once, and repeat attempts lead to a permanent ban.

Reporting

Every question and answer has a Report option in the app. Choose the reason that fits best and add details if they help. A moderator reviews each report within 24 hours. Reports are confidential: the person you report is not told who reported them. Repeatedly reporting content that clearly follows the rules may itself be treated as abuse.

Blocking

You can block any member from their post or answer. Blocking hides that person's questions and answers from you and stops them from replying to your questions; they are not told that you blocked them. You can review and undo your blocks at any time under Blocked users in the app. Blocking is for your own comfort and does not replace a report when a rule has been broken.

Enforcement and appeals

When a report is upheld, the content is removed. Depending on how serious the violation is and whether it has happened before, the account may also be banned from posting for a period of time or permanently. A ban never affects your VPN service, only your ability to post, answer, vote, bookmark and report. If you think a decision was wrong, email support@orbvpn.com from the email address on your account and tell us which post or decision you are appealing; we will review it and reply.

Moderation transparency

Posts and answers by OrbVPN staff carry a Staff badge, so you always know when you are talking to the company rather than to another member. Staff do not edit members' content: a post that breaks the rules is removed in full, never rewritten. Moderation decisions are made by people, and every one of them is recorded.

Changes to these guidelines

We update these guidelines when the community or the law needs it. Each version has a number, which is shown in the app and at the top of this page. When a new version takes effect, you will be asked to read and accept it before you can post or answer again. Accepting a version means you agree to follow it.
